Carbon neutrality roadmap

The journey towards a net-zero SRV continues in line with the company-wide carbon neutrality roadmap. SRV also participates in Green Building Council Finland’s #BuildingLife programme, which aims to achieve a carbon-neutral built environment by 2035.

Lifecycle-wise thinking at the heart of our strategy

SRV’s strategy is based on developing the built environment in a lifecycle-wise manner. This means reducing emissions and creating sustainable living environments for the long term.

Concrete climate actions

Lifecycle-wise thinking is reflected in our choices of energy sources and materials, as well as in efforts to minimise emissions. Our primary goal is to reduce emissions, although not all emissions can be eliminated. At company level, SRV also implements concrete climate actions. For example, together with our partner, we plant 16,700 trees each year. Over their lifetime, these trees will absorb 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Measures and targets towards 2030

SRV aims to achieve net-zero emissions in its own operations by 2030. This target is pursued through a wide range of measures, including the use of carbon-free electricity, low-carbon heating solutions, and a gradual shift to hybrid and electric vehicles.

Sustainable practices on our construction sites

Our construction sites use carbon-free electricity verified with guarantees of origin, favour sustainable and low-emission construction materials, and promote both circular and sharing economy principles. Biodiversity is supported by favouring native plant species and creating nesting sites for insects and birds.

The role of our partner network

SRV also encourages its extensive partner network to move towards low-carbon operations. Our aim is to strengthen cooperation with clients and suppliers to reduce indirect emissions and to increase the share of environmentally certified projects.

Focus areas for the future

SRV continues to develop lifecycle-wise concepts for housing and business premises, and is expanding the use of low-carbon materials to reduce lifecycle emissions. We also aim to increase the proportion of environmentally certified projects.
