Equal and inclusive workplace
SRV’s operations are guided by our Code of Conduct, which requires us to treat all people fairly and to never tolerate discrimination or harassment in any circumstances. We also expect our partners to respect human rights and comply with labour rights.
We promote equality, diversity and inclusion to ensure that everyone is treated according to the same principles and that all individuals have equal opportunities. These themes are also integrated into, for example, our induction practices.
Examples of our practical measures
We provide training for supervisors on our recruitment process to ensure fair and professional candidate selection.
We want everyone to receive appropriate and lawful compensation for their work, which is why we have further developed our human rights due diligence process.
In 2022, we began working with networks that promote diversity in the construction sector and organised a joint discussion event with the women’s network of RIL (the Finnish Association of Civil Engineers).
We aim for environmentally and socially sustainable supply chains that ensure safe and fair conditions for everyone. We do not tolerate corruption, bribery or any unethical practices.
Commitment to human rights and preventing labour exploitation
We act in accordance with our Code of Conduct and are aware of our due diligence obligations. We are committed to respecting and promoting internationally recognised freedoms and human rights, including:
- The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- The International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work
We are committed to avoiding adverse impacts on people within our value chain, and to addressing them if they occur. Identifying and managing these impacts is a responsibility shared by all SRV employees.
Key human rights themes and actions
- Respecting the rights of our own personnel and those of SRV’s suppliers by ensuring proper working conditions.
- Protecting communities and living environments by developing sustainable built environments.
- Promoting our Code of Conduct principles across the industry through active work against the grey economy, labour exploitation and other unethical practices.
To ensure that our actions effectively guide our business and value chain, we continuously improve our due diligence processes to identify, prevent and mitigate adverse human rights impacts. If we identify violations or suspected cases, we work with relevant parties and authorities to address and rectify the situation.
All cases related to discrimination or harassment on SRV sites can be reported via SRV’s confidential Ethics Channel. Read also more about SRV’s Code of Conduct.
