Loisto offers a new perspective on everyday life in Kalasatama, high above the city. SRV built the 32-storey residential tower in connection with REDI shopping centre, with shared lounges, a rooftop terrace and a range of services just a lift ride away.
SRV built the Loisto residential tower in Kalasatama, Helsinki, completing it on schedule in 2021. Rising to a height of 124 metres, Loisto offers a new way of living, with a comprehensive range of services and shared facilities just a lift ride away.
Construction of Loisto began alongside the development of REDI shopping centre, and it was the second tower to be completed in the planned development of eight towers connected to the shopping centre. The other completed towers are Majakka, Visio, Lumo One and the Horisontti office tower.
"High-rise construction supports sustainable urban development by making efficient use of land, building upwards in densely developed urban areas and locating buildings close to good public transport connections," says Jorma Seppä, Director of SRV's Housing Business.
Building upwards
High-rise construction required specialist expertise and solutions. Loisto was anchored deep into the bedrock, allowing the mass of the rock to act as a counterweight to the tower. Holes approximately 20 metres deep were drilled into the rock to accommodate anchors positioned at the corners of the tower.
Loisto was constructed using cast-in-situ concrete. Climbing formwork was used for the concrete pours, with the formwork raised using either a crane or a hydraulic jack.
Loisto was also the first construction site in Finland to use KONE's JumpLift elevator. The lift rose with the building as its machine room was raised, providing construction workers with a fast and safe lift throughout construction. JumpLift also made it possible, for example, to enclose the building's façade at an earlier stage.

Homes with panoramic views
Located at the eastern tip of the popular Kalasatama residential area, Loisto offers breathtaking views of both the sea and central Helsinki.
Loisto has 32 storeys and 249 apartments, ranging in size from 38 square metres to just over 131 square metres. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, and the apartments feature a versatile winter garden instead of a balcony.
Shared lounges high above the rooftops of Kalasatama also add to the residential experience.

Services and shared facilities
Loisto's extensive shared facilities add a touch of luxury to everyday living. Residents have access to a large function room, a sauna suite with a bathtub and hot tub, several smaller sauna areas, a spacious outdoor terrace and a summer kitchen with impressive views.
Loisto also has a gym, bookable remote working space and a guest apartment. Directly below the tower, just a lift ride away, is REDI shopping centre with its wide range of services. The metro station is also located in the same complex, making it easy to get around.
"The comprehensive range of services frees up residents' time from everyday routines for activities they enjoy. According to a resident survey, the wide range of services and well-designed shared facilities are a valuable addition to residential living," says Development Manager Lotta Toivonen.
