WithSecure’s headquarters is a showcase of Finnish wood construction. Built by SRV, the office building provides environmentally responsible premises that support employee wellbeing and serves as an example of sustainable construction for the future.
WithSecure’s headquarters in the Wood City wooden quarter provides modern and responsible premises for the cybersecurity company’s growing organisation. The building combines impressive wood construction, energy-efficient solutions and spatial design that supports interaction between employees.
Flagship project of Finnish wood construction
WithSecure’s headquarters was completed in the Wood City wooden quarter in Jätkäsaari, close to the centre of Helsinki. The quarter combines living and working and, in addition to WithSecure’s office, comprises Supercell’s premises, two residential buildings and a parking facility.
Wood City is a showcase of Finnish wood construction, developed by SRV in cooperation with Stora Enso. The architectural design was carried out by Anttinen Oiva Architects. Wood is used prominently throughout the quarter in various forms, including façade cladding, structural frames and interior materials.
The property is owned by Union Investment, and the project is one of the first construction projects in Finland to comply with the new EU Taxonomy.

Positive carbon handprint
WithSecure’s office building, constructed mainly from wood, is net zero in emissions and also has a positive carbon handprint. Its carbon handprint is 6 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per square metre per year, compared with a typical figure of only 1–2 kg. The carbon handprint describes the positive climate impacts generated by lower-emission solutions.
Wood is an excellent construction material when aiming for lifecycle wisdom. It is the only fully renewable and recyclable material and also stores carbon. We used as much as 600 tonnes of wood in the construction of WithSecure’s premises.
The building, which has an energy rating of A, is also energy-efficient: it uses operational optimisation and energy recovery. More than 200 square metres of solar panels have also been installed on the roof.
WithSecure’s office has applied for the international LEED Platinum environmental certification, which demonstrates high environmental standards and energy efficiency. The building’s environmental performance is also monitored throughout its lifecycle.

A working environment designed in collaboration
We designed the building in close collaboration with WithSecure and its partners. WithSecure’s brief to SRV was clear: environmentally sustainable premises with conditions that support employee wellbeing and encourage face-to-face interaction.
Adaptability and flexibility were also important. The office provides spaces for socialising and meetings as well as spaces for focused individual work. The visitor centre can also be adapted for use as a traditional meeting room or auditorium.
WithSecure’s employees have given very positive feedback on the new premises. They feel that the office has brought more energy and interaction to their working days. WithSecure’s Chief People Officer Charlotte Guillou says that the cooperation with SRV went very smoothly.
We were kept up to date throughout the project. Our wishes were listened to and we worked together to find the best solutions. I learnt that even a somewhat vague vision is worth expressing openly – a professional knows how to take it forward and develop it into a practical solution.
