SRV built a hot-dip galvanising plant for Aurajoki Oy in Lieto, in the Turku region, under a collaborative project management contract. Construction began in May 2023 and the plant became operational on 1 July 2024.
SRV built a hot-dip galvanising plant for Aurajoki Oy, a company specialising in metal surface treatment services, in Lieto in the Turku region in 2024. Completed to a tight schedule in just over a year, the project comprised approximately 6,200 m² GFA of production and office facilities. The collaborative contracting model enabled a rapid transition from the development phase to the implementation phase.
Building services played a key role
Due to the complexity of the plant’s technical systems, building services played a significant role in the project. Managing the building services from design management through to construction and commissioning, as well as working with the process equipment suppliers, required specialist expertise from SRV.
The new production facility has a lifecycle target of 50 years for its structural frame and utility networks and 25 years for its technical building systems

Europe’s most environmentally friendly hot-dip galvanising plant is fully carbon-neutral in its own operations.
The modern hot-dip galvanising plant uses the latest technology, enabling significant environmental benefits in terms of both emissions and energy consumption.
For example, energy generated in the production process is recovered and fed into Lieto’s district heating network. The building also has a solar power system on its roof.
SRV handled the construction extremely well in every respect. Keeping to the schedule was of paramount importance to us, and despite the tight schedule, the plant was completed exactly as agreed. The quality of construction and the arrangements on site during construction were also first-class.
