SRV to build 111 apartments for Espoon Asunnot in Mårtensbro, Espoo
SRV and Espoon Asunnot have signed an agreement to build 111 rental apartments financed by the Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction, in Mårtensbro, Espoo. The agreement is valued at around EUR 17 million. The order will be recognised for April and it supports SRV's strategy that focuses on increasing the share of revenue accounted for by housing construction. Construction will begin in June 2026 and is currently scheduled for completion in autumn 2027. The project, with a total gross floor area of 8,845 square meters, will be carried out as a turnkey project in accordance with the client’s plans. The project is financed by the Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction
"SRV's objective is to step up the volume of housing construction in the years ahead. In addition to our own housing production, we carry out a variety of housing projects for our customers. This spring, we will complete the right-of-occupancy housing project we are building for the Asuntosäätiö in the Mårtensbro area, which is the first construction project in the area. We have been developing the area with the city of Espoo for a long time, and now that we’ve signed the contract with Espoon Asunnot we can start up the construction of the second project in the area,” says Jorma Seppä, Executive Vice President, Housing, of Helsinki metropolitan area at SRV.
Mårtensbro is a new residential area in Espoonlahti
Mårtensbro is a new residential area. It is located in central Espoonlahti on the plot opposite Lippulaiva, at the crossing of Espoonlahdenkatu and Ulappakatu. SRV has a planning reservation for the development of numerous blocks in the area.
“SRV is also planning developer-contracted and developed residential production in the Mårtensbron area. The goal is to build market-financed owner-occupied and rental apartments in the block,” Seppä continues.
The City of Espoo aims to attract nearly 10,000 new residents and create 1,400 new jobs in the Espoonlahti central area, in the immediate vicinity of the metro station, by 2050. The development of Mårtensbro is a key part of this goal.
“The Mårtensbro project is significant for us, as it will bring over a hundred new homes to Espoo and take us towards our annual new housing target. SRV is familiar to us in construction of block projects. The project that is now starting is our first actual contract project with them”, says Pirjo Räihä, Director of Construction Project Management at Espoon Asunnot.
The eight-story building will be constructed to meet the energy-efficient energy class A and will be connected to the district heating network. Roof-mounted solar panels promote the use of renewable energy and reduce energy consumption in the building's common premises. Low-carbon GWP.85 concrete will be used in the building’s hollow-core slabs, inner shell elements, and partition wall elements.
