The growth of Niittykumpu is bringing new homes to an area with excellent transport connections and services. SRV built Espoon Komentaja for Varma, with its energy class A apartment buildings making use of geothermal heating and solar panels.
We built 128 lifecycle-wise apartments in Niittykumpu, Espoo, for Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company. The completed residential development Espoon Komentaja consists of two seven-storey apartment buildings and a parking facility.
The energy class A development features lifecycle-wise solutions such as geothermal heating and solar panels. Construction of the apartment buildings began in summer 2024, and they were completed in early 2026.
Niittykumpu is one of the most rapidly developing areas in Espoo. Its location close to Länsiväylä and Ring II makes it easy to get around, and the metro journey from Niittykumpu station to central Helsinki takes just over 15 minutes. In addition to Niitty shopping centre, the shops and other services of Tapiola and Iso Omena are only a couple of metro stops away.
“We have played an active role in developing the Niittykumpu area, where SRV’s developer-contracted Niittykummun Neuvokas residential development for consumers was completed in summer 2026. Another owner-occupied residential development, Espoon Luhtavehka, is due to be completed in the area by the end of 2026. At the beginning of 2026, we also announced an agreement with Eden Asunnot to build the Luhtasammal rental housing development in the area,” says Jorma Seppä, Director of Residential Construction in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area at SRV.
