SRV to build 49 residential units for Y-Säätiö in Espoo
SRV and Y-Säätiö have agreed on the construction of an apartment building with 49 rental units in Espoo. The agreement is valued at EUR 11.5 million and will be recognised in SRV's order backlog in January 2026. The project will be built as a turnkey contract in which SRV will be responsible for both design and implementation. Construction will begin in January 2026 and is estimated to be completed in early 2027.
"SRV's objective is to step up the volume of housing construction in the years ahead. In addition to our own housing production, we carry out a variety of housing projects for our customers. We have been involved in developing the Vermonniity area for years and have previously built properties in the area for, among others, eQ and Kojamo", says SRV's Jorma Seppä, SVP, Housing, Helsinki metropolitan area.
“This is the first project we’re building for Y-Säätiö. I’m pleased to start cooperating with this foundation," Seppä says.
Energy-efficient homes
The eight-story KOY Espoo Anna Sahlsténin katu 16 will be built in energy-efficient A energy class and connected to the district heating network. Solar panels installed on the roof will promote the use of renewable energy and reduce energy consumption in the property's common areas. The company has its own courtyard, where good play and relaxation areas have been designed.
Some of the elements of the project use low-carbon concrete, whose CO2 emissions are 15 percent lower than those of similar conventional concrete.
"It is important for us to collaborate with competent partners who share our vision of responsible construction. Collaboration with SRV in Vermo enables the implementation of affordable, energy-efficient and functional homes in a developing area. Our goal is to build housing that supports the smooth flow of everyday life and sustainable urban development," says Pekka Kampman, CEO of Y-Säätiö palvelut Oy.
Y-Säätiö is the developer of the project. The renting of units will be handled by M2-Kodit. M2-Kodit is a non-profit owned by the Y-Säätiö Group that focuses on state-subsidised construction of rental housing.
Vermonniitty is close to services and good transport connections
Vermonniitty is a new residential area being built between Leppävaara and the Vermo racetrack. Development of the area began in the late 2010s and the housing stock consists mainly of apartment buildings. Both owner-occupied and rental apartments are available. Vermonniitty is located next to Leppävaara's services and the good transport connections enabled by the Rantarata, Raide-Jokeri, Leppävaara bus terminal, Ring Road I and Turuntie. For outdoor activities and exercise, the neighborhood offers Perkkaa Sports Park, Majurinpuisto Outdoor Fitness Center, and Tali Sports Park, all within walking distance. The schools and daycare centers needed by families with children are also located in Vermonniity and its immediate vicinity. There are two schools and a total of ten daycare centers in the area.
