Senate Properties has chosen SRV as the implementation partner of the new Rovaniemi Main Police Station
Senate Properties has chosen SRV as the implementation partner of the new Rovaniemi Main Police Station. The development phase of the project which will be implemented under a spearhead alliance project model will start in November. In order to be implemented, the project requires favorable decision of the Finance Committee of the Government, the decision of the Ministry of the Interior on the financing of the rent, and the investment decision and construction permit of the Senate Real Estate Board.
The contract for the implementation phase is planned to be signed in the first quarter of 2026. According to the preliminary schedule, construction work is aimed to be started in the summer of 2026, and the new building would then be completed in the fall of 2028. The total cost estimate of the project, which will be implemented using the spearhead alliance model, is approximately EUR 61 million.
“The project supports our goal of strengthening our leading position in cooperative contracting and strengthening our order book at a time when demand from the private sector is lower. We thank Senate Properties for the opportunity to start this regionally significant project together. We get to utilize our expertise acquired in previously implemented projects. We have previously implemented for example the Oulu Main Police Station and Oulu Prison as well as the Vantaa Main Police Station and Vantaa Prison”, says Tero Karislahti, SVP, Regional Units at SRV.
Senate Properties, which is responsible for state offices, plans to build a new, approximately 12,500 square meter Main Police Station in Rovaniemi's new industrial area on Verstaantie.
"Rovaniemi's new Main Police Station is a significant investment in the security of the whole of Lapland, and it will serve the police personnel and the residents of the area long into the future. Planning according to the police house concept guarantees functional and high-quality facilities for the police that respond to the changing operating environment", says Lauri Peltonen, Northern Finland Regional Director of Senate Properties.
Modern premises for about 250 people
The goal of the project is to implement healthy, safe and activity-supporting facilities for the personnel of the Lapland Police Department and the Lapland Unit of the Central Criminal Police. About 250 people will work in the new premises. The design of the building is guided by the national police building concept, which defines the functionality of the premises. The facilities better support, for example, the departure and return of patrols as well as activities during the shift. The activities are located in the police building so that moving around and collecting equipment is smooth and saves time. Attention has also been paid to the functionality, comfort and data security of the customer premises. The goal of the project is to reduce the carbon footprint by approximately 25% compared to the usual level.
