Alliance project model behind the successConstruction site of the year 2021The total scope of the project is 75,000 m²

SRV carried out a transformation project at Helsinki Airport using an alliance model, enabling smoother customer service and improved global traffic flow. The project was implemented partly as new construction and partly through the renovation of existing structures.

The extension completed in front of Terminal 2 creates a new type of area serving air passengers. The terminal now features a new check-in area, security screening, baggage claim and arrivals hall. The expansion also includes a travel centre connecting different modes of transport.

The total area of the new building and renovated sections amounted to 75,000 square metres, of which the extension covered 40,000 square metres. During the construction of Terminal 2, environmental sustainability was given particular emphasis. The project successfully combined a smooth and straightforward passenger experience with strong environmental values.

The key strengths of the project included success in delivering a demanding and complex scheme, meeting all the goals set for the alliance, and achieving excellent collaboration within the alliance. The inspiring and successful journey from design to completion was a valuable learning process that produced meaningful results.
