Espoo Courthouse provides carbon-neutral, energy-efficient premises in Otaniemi. SRV built the four-storey extension, which achieved a BREEAM Very Good environmental certification.
SRV built the new Espoo Courthouse in Otaniemi as part of the Open Innovation House property. Completed in summer 2022, the project was carried out for the special investment fund eQ Yhteiskuntakiinteistöt and achieved a BREEAM New Construction 2016 environmental certification with a rating of Very Good.
The courthouse is located in a four-storey extension at Maarintie 4. The building has a floor area of approximately 8,600 square metres.
We placed particular emphasis on energy efficiency, environmental responsibility and the use of low-carbon energy in the design and construction. Espoo Courthouse is carbon neutral in terms of heating, cooling and electricity. The building uses renewable energy generation and low-carbon energy.
The courthouse's energy consumption is monitored using an energy metering system connected to the building automation system. This enables energy use to be adjusted according to the building's actual use, helping to maintain comfortable conditions without unnecessary energy consumption.
